Arrival at the airport and transfer to our hotel in San José.
We leave early, at around 5 am, to cross the border in Sixaola and continue to Changuinola, where we take a boat to Isla Colón.
We arrive in the archipelago Bocas Del Toro at approximately 2 pm. After check-in at the hotel, we will go to Starfish Beach, and later have a delicious Caribbean dinner at the restaurant. We come back to the hotel for the night.
After our breakfast in the hotel, we leave for the “Bay of the Dolphins”, where it is possible to observe these fascinating animals in their natural habitat.
Then we will go to Cayo Coral, where we will be able to snorkel in the clear waters of the Caribbean Sea before we have lunch in a local restaurant.
After approximately 2 hours we will continue our tour to the “Beach of the Red Frog”. Above all it is a very calm beach where it is easy to relax and have a good time.
Before we return by boat to Bocas Del Toro, we have another chance to go snorkeling in Punta Hospital.
We will be back at the hotel at 4 pm.
We will leave by boat at 9 am to Changuinola, and from there take the minibus towards Limón (about 4 hours). We’ll have the rest of the day off to explore the city, before we get a good night’s sleep at the hotel.
Free day at the beach in Puerto Viejo to enjoy the relaxed beach life of the Caribbean.
We will begin our trip early in the morning, at around 6 am. The hotel will prepare your breakfast.
Our journey continues through banana tree plantations – with a little bit of luck we get to see the packing process of the fruits. Our destination is the cattle property of Caño Blanco, where we will be picked up by a boat at about 11 am.
We will cruise the channels for about two hours before we get to our hotel, where we will be greeted with a welcome cocktail. Before you got to your room, your guide will tell you about afternoon activities and when it’s time for lunch.
One option for the afternoon is a tour to the Museum of the Turtle of the C.C.C. (Corporation of Caribbean Conservation) and to the town of Tortuguero. When returning to the lodge you can enjoy the pool, the wet bar and get ready for dinner.
It will be served between 7:30 and 9 pm. If you want to you can go on an optional tour to see turtles nesting from 8 to 10 pm (during the season from July to September).
There is an optional trip at 6 am to witness the wildlife awake on in the channels of Tortuguero. Then you return to the hotel to have breakfast (7:30 - 9 am).
Also during the morning there will be another trip to explore a different section of the channels of the Tortuguero National Park.
You are back at the lodge for lunch and have some free time afterwards for a nap. Another optional tour is included, but you might as well simply relax at the lodge. Here you can enjoy the pool, explore the hotel’s private forest trails, or visit the garden full of butterflies. In the evening we will have our dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast we begin our transfer to La Fortuna. The restaurant in Tortuguero will prepare a boxed lunch for you. Tonight we will stay at the Volcano Lodge.
Our tour today, which begins at 7:30 a.m., gives you the opportunity to enjoy all main attractions of the Arenal region in a single day! The Hanging Bridges Route is 3 km long and crosses 15 bridges with lengths from 5 to 100 meters and with heights up to 60 meters.
The surrounding primary humid tropical forest is spectacular for watching birds, reptiles, mammals, and insects.
Our next stop is La Fortuna Waterfall. From the trailhead you will hike approximately 15 minutes before reaching this majestic waterfall, where you can swim or just enjoy its breathtaking beauty. In the charming town La Fortuna we will have our lunch before you can rest. At 3 pm we will start our volcano hike.
We choose one of several trails depending on which side of the volcano is currently most active – but you will see a wide variety of plants and wildlife on all the trails. At Los Tucanes trail you will not only have the opportunity to walk on affixed trails, but also on old lava flow itself. At the end of the hike we will enjoy the sunset, and hopefully see and hear the glowing chunks of lava tumbling down the side of the mountain - a sight you won’t soon forget. You’ll end the day with a relaxing dip in the Tabacón Hot Springs, followed by a buffet dinner.
We leave at 7:30 am, heading to Varablanca. The first hour of the travel is through the fertile San Carlos plain, where we can find plantations of yucca, orange, corn, rice, papaya, sugar cane, coconuts, passion fruit, as well as forest plantations and pastures. This zone bathed by pristine rivers, among them the San Carlos River, protects important areas of tropical forest in national parks and nature preserves.
After passing Varablanca we drive into the Central Volcanic Mountain Range, where we find some of the most active volcanoes of Costa Rica. We will see exuberant landscapes with waterfalls and forests.
Around 9:30 am we will stop at La Paz Waterfall Gardens - a beautiful place which combines marvelous rainforest and tropical gardens. There we will also visit the biggest butterfly garden in the world, and while we follow the path beside the river to observe 5 amazing waterfalls, we will be able to spot hundreds of hummingbirds along the way. After our visit to the gardens we will continue our journey and stop for lunch in a restaurant with typical Costa Rican food.
Then we leave to Sarchí, which is well-known as the “cradle of the craft” in Costa Rica. Here we will stop for a while so you have the opportunity to buy some memories of your trip or simply enjoy the atmosphere of the colorful village.
Around 3 pm we leave towards San José and after 45 minutes we arrive at the hotel, where you can rest before you take your flight back home the next day.
After breakfast our tour has already come to an end…. hasta luego!
