Located in the north-western part of the country, this region represents one of the most interesting ecosystems, the dry tropical forest. Furthermore we find beautiful beaches, active volcanoes, extensive zones of wetlands and deep caverns. A little further westwards, tropical rainforest is present and bears areas of extremely high biological value, such as the Cabo Blanco Biological Reserve.
Due to its beautiful beaches, this area is one of Costa Rica’s favorite destinations for people looking for peaceful days in the sun or recreational activities such as aquatic sports. Whether you get the peace or the action is entirely dependent on which beach you choose. Playas El Coco, Hermosa, Tamarindo, Flamingo, Ostional, Mal País and Montezuma are some of the many beaches that are worth a visit in this corner of the country.
