The airline will start the once-weekly flights to Guanacaste in June 2020.
“We are excited to add this new route to Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport and to serve Dallas-Fort Worth,” said Grant Whitney, head of revenue for Sun Country Airlines. “We are also committed to connecting guests in an affordable way with their favorite people, places, and memories, and we hope to bring that commitment to Costa Rica.

“We believe that guests will enjoy our low rates, excellent customer service, and comfortable onboard experience.”
“This flight from Sun Country Airlines will be operating during the months of June, July and August 2020, opening new opportunities for the promotion of Costa Rica in the Texas market,” said María Amalia Revelo, Minister of Tourism.
The new Sun Country service will face directly with American Airlines, which flies the identical route year-round.
Sun Country, which concentrates on leisure travel and operates many routes seasonally, also offers direct flights to Liberia during the tourism high season from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport in Minnesota.
The announcement marks yet more growth for Costa Rica’s second-busiest international airport.
Less than two decades after it served fewer than 100,000 passengers a year, the Costa Rican airport now welcomes more than 1 million people annually.
